Took Eight Years To Mow My lawn.
October 2012, I was elected as the director of children’s and youth ministries in the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventist. I never knew what it really entailed but graduating with my masters in youth ministry I knew God had somehing special for me to do.
I live in Bowie, Maryland almost 175 miles one way to Pine Forge, where the business of the ministry is done. I do 50% of my time in the office and 50% in the field (not including weekends).
When May comes around youth directors go into overdrive. Youth directors prepare for 3 months of non-stop, high energy, 3-4 hours of sleep a night, hustling for the love of youth.
May 2011 was the last time I mowed my lawn. Covid-19 closed camp meeting, youth camps and these 3 months of ministering. There are
many terrible things COVID-19 brought to the table but I have to admit, I enjoy my home, my yard and a cool breeze running through the trees. I love ministry and God has given me the opportunity to enjoy the little things of life that truly matter. I mowed my yard for the first time in eight years. It felt great.
